Do I need to pay for anything after my treatment, such as if I lose or break my retainer?

We look after all of our patients after treatment for no extra fee as a continuation of care. However, extra fees may apply to replace lost or broken retainers. 

If your retainer breaks, please contact us to organise a replacement as soon as possible. 

Can I claim orthodontic treatment through private health insurance?

We provide ongoing care for our patients after treatment at no extra charge. However, fees may apply if you need to replace a lost or broken retainer.

What is the average cost of braces in Australia?

The cost of braces can vary widely depending on the type of treatment needed and the provider, but it typically ranges from $4,000 to $11,000. 

The fee is spread over the course of treatment and flexible and interest free payment plans are available.
 

How much does an orthodontic consultation appointment cost?

The initial new patient consultation costs $150. 

This includes an extended consultation, diagnosis and treatment plan, digital model scan (if required), photos, an assessment of x-rays, and a report with a quote.

What are the payment options accepted for orthodontic treatment?

We offer several payment options, including:

  • Interest-free flexible payment plans
Is my orthodontic treatment covered by Medicare?

No, unfortunately orthodontic treatments are not covered by Medicare. 

However, some procedures related to your treatment may be bulk billed, such as x-rays. 
 

Is my orthodontic treatment covered by private health insurance?

Hobart Specialist Dentist Centre partners with select health insurance companies, however your level of coverage may vary depending on your health insurance policy. 

Comprehensive orthodontic treatment is code 881.

Please consult with your Private Health provider for more information. Please note, there can be up to a 12 month wait time for some health funds. 

Do you offer family discounts?
